NOTIFIED BODY SCOPE
This test is performed within the scope of the notified body according to the Construction Products Regulation (305/2011/EU) only for insulating glass units that do not contain desiccant. This test is a useful quality control test for insulating glass units containing desiccant as well, because even for insulating glass units containing desiccant, the dew point temperature must be lower than the temperature specified in the standard. Otherwise, the moisture penetration index may appear as less than zero (0).

TS EN 675-SBG Insulating Glass Unit – Determination of Thermal Transmittance (U-Value)

PRODUCT
Insulating glass unit

TEST MATERIAL / COMPONENT
Insulating glass unit

PURPOSE OF THE TEST
Thermal transmittance is measured experimentally using a heat flow meter and a heating cabinet.

TEST DESCRIPTION
The thermal transmittance of the insulating glass unit used is measured using a Testo 635 and a heating cabinet. The obtained value is compared with the calculated value or the value specified in the technical product specification. Compliance is thus determined; however, the test has not been validated, the test results have not been verified, and the test results may not provide consistent and reliable findings. Measurements are limited to the measuring capabilities of the test setup. Please consult the laboratory for detailed information.

REFERENCE TEST STANDARD
Internal method (TS EN 675-SBG)

INTERNAL TEST METHOD NO

Desiccant – Calcium Chloride (CaCl2) Test

PRODUCT
Insulating glass unit

MATERIAL / COMPONENT TO BE TESTED
Desiccant

PURPOSE OF THE TEST
To determine whether the desiccant used is a genuine desiccant.

DESCRIPTION OF THE TEST
The desiccant is immersed in water, and a soda solution (Na2CO3) is added; if a white precipitate forms, it indicates that calcium chloride (CaCl2) has been added to the desiccant to increase the temperature and irreversibly absorb moisture.
