MATERIAL / COMPONENT TO BE TESTED
All flat glass used in building: Fully tempered glasses, Heat-strengthened glasses, Laminated glasses, Laminated safety glasses
NAME OF THE TEST
Pendulum test – Impact test method and classification for flat glass (Classification for safety in use)
OBJECTIVE OF THE TEST
The breakage mode and characteristics of the glass against the pendulum at different drop heights are determined. As a result of this test, which simulates human body impact against the glass, the breakage type and classification are determined. This characteristic is used to determine the performance of the glass in terms of safety in use.
DESCRIPTION OF THE TEST
It is applied to flat glass used for safety purposes in buildings, particularly fully tempered, heat-strengthened, and laminated (safety) glasses. At the end of the test, the breakage mode and characteristics of the glass against the pendulum at different drop heights are determined. As a result of this test, which simulates human body impact against the glass, the breakage type and classification are determined. This test, conducted specifically to determine the performance of the glass against human impact, is mandatory.
