Recycled Claim Standard (RCS)

The Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) is an international standard that sets requirements for third parties. It is a chain of custody standard for tracking recycled raw materials through the supply chain. It uses the chain of custody requirements of the Content Claim Standard (CCS).

The Recycled Claim Standard is designed for use with any product that contains at least 5% Recycled Material. Each stage of production is required to be certified, beginning at the recycling stage and ending at the final business-to-business seller. Material Collection and Material Concentration sites are subject to self-declaration, document collection, and site visits.

The RCS is a single-attribute standard and does not address the social or environmental aspects of material processing and manufacturing, quality, or legal compliance.

The goal of the RCS is to increase the use of recycled materials in products and supply chains.

  • Tracking recycled input materials.
  • Providing customers (both brands and consumers) with a tool to make informed decisions.
  • Providing assurance that materials in the final product are actually recycled and processed more sustainably.

Who Should Obtain RCS Certification?

Companies operating in ginning, spinning, weaving and knitting, dyeing and printing, and cut-and-sew apparel sectors are eligible for certification.

Benefits of RCS Certification

It verifies the percentage of recycled content and ensures a chain of custody through the supply chain. RCS certification benefits you, your customers, and other stakeholders by demonstrating:

  • Tracking recycled input materials.
  • Providing customers (both brands and consumers) with a tool to make informed decisions.
  • Providing assurance that materials in the final product are actually recycled and processed more sustainably.Click Here for Our Other Services: PEFC Certification, RSPO Certification, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001
